Take Your Concrete Patio From Dull To Dazzling In 3 Simple Steps

According to a recent landscaping survey, approximately 63% of respondents are willing to pay more for a home or an apartment if it’s located in an area with good green spaces. That said, not everyone is able (or wants to) have an expansive lawn and backyard space. Many Delaware patios allow homeowners to have a space to entertain without being stuck with lawn mowing duty three seasons out of the year. That said, a simple concrete patio can look a little dull if you don’t quite know what to do with it. If you want to help your patio look its very best, try out one of these ideas:

    1. Add a wall
We’re not talking about a tall privacy wall to keep nosy neighbors out. In this case, we’re referring to a low wall that frames your patio space. This can be particularly effective if your patio is on a higher level compared to other parts of your yard. By defining the space with this decorative wall, you’ll create a lookout point (and an extra place to sit!) that really frames your yard in a beautiful way. Plus, it will give you a chance to put your own stamp (literally) on your landscaping with stones, decorative rocks, bricks, and other options.

    1. Light it up
You might assume that you have to make do with whatever light hits your patio from the sun. But depending on the direction your patio faces, that might mean you’ll be baking one hour and in total darkness the next. If your patio is in full sun, you can add shade with a sail or an awning. For patios that are subject to too much shade, you can add decorative lanterns or other kinds of lighting to ensure the space is both inviting and safe. No matter what, residents shouldn’t be uncomfortable when they’re outside on their Delaware patios.

  1. Consider a firepit or pergola
If you’ve already got the seating and the decor but just want a bit more pizzazz in your outdoor space, there are some easy ways to do it. Firepits can add warmth, light, and beauty to any space and are excellent for year-round entertaining. A pergola can make the space feel cozier and more private; it can even allow you to start a vertical garden space or have hanging vines above your outdoor eating area. These two elements can make any run-of-the-mill concrete patio seem totally special and enticing.

Hardscaping projects like these can actually be quite beautiful and allow you to showcase your property while fulfilling your own needs. Want to find out more about how we improve Delaware patios? Contact Borsello Landscaping today.
